I am thankful!

I am thankful for so many things but first and for most are my parents. After spending some time with my mother back in October after an unfortunate occurrence my husband and I did not expect. I called my mommy to lean on. I am so thankful that she only lives 4 hours away and was at my home within hours. We spend several days together but it felt like hours. The time went by so fast I forgot to take any pictures until the last day when she was leaving. After she left I couldn’t help but remember the conversations we had about my life and my new passion for photography. Both my parents are so supportive and have 100% faith that I can do anything I put my mind to. I am so lucky to have that in my life. Since my parents are divorced my father spent Thanksgiving with us this past weekend. I love hearing his stories about how he started his own business and what I should do to help mine grow. I think it’s so amazing that if I wanted to become a farmer, dentist or actress my parents would be there by my side. My father always, always, always used to tell me even when I was young the ways to be better at helping my business. As if he knew I would one day have one of my own. I am so grateful for the love, support, encouragement and faith my parents have in me. Even if I fail my parents will still think I did an awesome job trying and pick me back up to move on to the next thing. Although photography is new to me over the last year I know that it takes hard work, skill and many nights of studying to become a professional but with the support I have it’s worth giving it a shot to continue on forever.
I am also thankful for my husband who is now my everyday support and rock. I love that he believes in me and anything I do. I love that he is by my side to make sure I dont fall.
I am so thankful!

I can and I will

Sometimes I feel like I can't things done. Like my oldest son's scrapbook since he was a little kid...now he is 14. I started my second son's book and ended it at 1 year now he's 2.  I also have 2 journals for my boys to read when I am gone or when they get old enough. I often start things at work (my full time job as an assistant at a childcare center) and I have tried to schedule my time and work things out but by the time I know it it's the end of the week. After work I own a photography business. Its my job to tell people about me and what I do. I need to find time for that too. I sometimes feel like I take shots and know I could have done better. So today is the day that that will change. I have reviewed my past shots that I have taken throughout the year and have realized what and where I went wrong. I love what I do as a photographer and know that there are people out there that believe in me and my future. So as I said "I can and I will" be better than the me from last year. I will finish my scrapbooks, I will stay updated on my kids journals and I will be an amazing photographer.

A Path

Today (Thursday Nov 17) is exactly 1 week after my 31st birthday. After a long week of being 31 I now feel wiser. I have wisdom and intellect. I think and see more clearly. Um yea right! I still don't know enough and can't understand why things happen. What I do know is that I am so loved and blessed. I do know that I am learning more about my fabulous camera that I have invested in (my husband appreciates that). I know that life is a gift and each day we need to record it what ever way you can. Pictures, journals, blogs, etc. are making life more interesting to view by others. Its seems like older I get my husband want me to slow down but it will never happen. I was born this way...lady gaga. I love staying up all night and doing more. It makes me feel like I am really taking advantage of my time I have on this earth. I am so excited for who I am at 31 and I wouldn't change how I got here. Amen!

Shoot with what you got

I hear photographers say it's not with what you shoot with but how you shoot it & know your camera. When I really wanted to become a photographer my mom gave me her camera that she started with from 1970. It's old and heavy but to be honest it really works still to this day. She had 3 lenses, a flash and cases for everything. I shot some pictures last fall with it but you there is no LCD screen. Things have changed so much since then with the technology of cameras. I can't believe the choices in camera equipment alone. I don't use this for my current photo shoots I have seriously upgraded. ha ha! Today I shot some beautiful pictures of our Christmas tree my mom decorated for us. It has become a Allen Tradition to give my mom full reign to decorate. She does an amazing job. It's breath taking.

Getting Closer to 31

Today was a day were I used this line "free to be me" a lot. As I get closer to turning 31 I feel like I should know who I am and where I am going. Most people might approach a birthday and think, "I finally lost that weight" or "Why can't I get rid of this weight". Birthdays can be some what depressing but I love mine. I always have and will. I like to celebrate events in life. Whether it's my party or a celebration for another party's have my 3 favorite things...cake, food and people:)

Staying clean

Today was another day of lessons from the unannounced resources and teachers in photography. I feel like I am finally getting somewhere and have a plan to move forward.

With 2 kids; 14 yr old jacob and 22 month old Zechariah, I feel like life is manageable. Oh yea husband too.

Once our day was over I was able to pry the Halloween candy from zechariah but not before he held tight to one sucker. I finally gave in to allowing him to eat it in the tub. I guess it's an easy way to clean him up afterwards. lol
